Canada Goose Hunting in Delaware & New Jersey with Del-Bay Guide Service

Our Canada Goose Hunting Areas – Delaware and New Jersey

Come and enjoy a day of Canada goose hunting on the famed Delmarva peninsula- home to nearly one million Canada Geese with endless  creeks, holding ponds, and the the Chesapeake Bay. Not only does this make for excellent Canada goose hunting, but also an enjoyable afternoon ride after the hunt.

Delaware Canada Goose Hunting

Most of our Canada Goose Hunting in Delaware takes place along the Delaware Bay between the 17,000 acre Bombay Hook National Wildlife Area and the 4,500 acre Little Creek Wildlife Area. These two refuges can winter in excess of 40, 000 Canada Geese. Both have fresh water impoundments for the birds. Both refuges also border the Delaware Bay giving the birds open water should the impoundments freeze.

We have 14 farms surrounding these refuges and the Delaware Bay. These are large farms that are traditionally used by Canada Geese over the years. All are planted in corn or soybean. Since we mostly do snow goose hunting, Canada goose hunting is usually very productive do to lack of hunting pressure.

Scouting

We do scout for Canada geese though not as extensively as for Snow Geese. Canada geese tend winter in an area for the entire season. We do scout to watch their flight patterns, wind direction, how many birds etc.

Decoys and Calling

The key to successful Canada goose hunting is the location of your farms. Just as important are the decoys and calling. We use GHG Full Bodies and Big Foot decoys for our Canada goose hunting. Our guides are all excellent callers. Knowing when to call or not call is just as important as knowing how to call.

Blinds and Pits

All of our Maryland Canada goose hunting and Delaware Canada goose hunting is done from either pits or blinds blended into standing corn. Both of these types of concealment are very deadly and popular.

New Jersey Canada Goose Hunting

Come and enjoy a day of New Jersey Canada goose hunting with us. New Jersey Canada goose hunting has a more liberal bag limit than Delaware or Maryland- 3 birds vs 2 birds.

Our Gunning Areas

Our New Jersey Canada goose hunting takes place in two southern counties – Salem and Cumberland. These largely agriculture- based counties provide the two key to our New Jersey Canada goose hunting success – a lot of large corn/wheat fields and over 100,000 acres of tidal marsh.

Our Hunting

The key to our success when it comes to New Jersey Canada goose hunting is having farms next to multiple roosting areas in different areas. 95% of our New Jersey Canada goose hunting is done from the comfort of large, comfortable  (16-20 ft) blinds and pits.

Decoys and Calling

We use only Big Foot decoys for our New Jersey Canada goose hunting because of their size and realism. Full body decoys tend to land geese better than silhouettes. Calling is a learned art like playing an instrument. All of our guides are good callers with 20-40 years experience.

As with most waterfowl hunting, our New Jersey Canada goose hunting is largely affected by weather.
